History

Lane Cove National Park was opened in 1938, but the European history of the area goes back to the early years of the colony nearly one hundred and fifty years before.

The Indigenous history of the area goes back many thousands of years.

Use our guide to identify flowers in the park

Flora and Fauna

There are more than 500 different species of plants growing in the park. Use the colour of their flowers and our WHAT’S FLOWERING guide to help identify ones that you see and decide if they are friend or foe, a local native or an invasive weed.

More galleries will be developed shortly to help identify other plants in the park.

There is also around 250 different species of wildlife that calls the park home. Galleries are being developed to help identify them.
