Channel-billed Cuckoo

Scythrops novaehollandiae

Family: Cuculidae

570-700mm

They can be found in LCNP during their migration from Indonesia and New Guinea from Sept to March.

They leave eggs in other birds’ nests (mainly in Magpie and Currawong nests) who then raise the chick.

They can often be found in the tops of trees and by the amount of noise the chick makes when hungry.
