Endangered Species in LCNP
At least 14 species listed as Vulnerable of Threatened have been identified in LCNP.
Powerful Owl, a vulnerable species
Grey Headed Flying Fox, a vulnerable species
Osprey, "uncommon in south eastern Australia"
Dwarf finger fern, an endangered species. Found at Turramurra south and Ferndale Park.
Scrub Turpentine, a critically endangered myrtle. There's a handful of these growing in our valley. They occur at Ferndale Park and Browns Field. Almost extinct due to myrtle rust.
An endangered species, Hygrocybe lanecovensis. Found in Lane Cove Bushland and Ferndale Park, Chatswood.
Deane's Tea Tree, a vulnerable species. Photographed at Devlins Creek, near Epping. Now known as Gaudium deanei.
Downy Wattle (Acacia pubescens). A vulnerable species. There's one record in the upper Lane Cove valley at South Turramurra.
Glossy black-cockatoo, a vulnerable species.
