Acacia echinula

Acacia echinula is a prickly wattle, much less common than the Acacia ulicifolia (Prickly Moses), which also flowers in the park. It is distinguished by the bright yellow globular flowers and its thicker, shorter (5-9mm long) and denser phyllodes (leaf-like structures).

It grows to about 2 m high and has rigid and bushy appearance.

Acacia echinula is found in heath and woodland.

Echinus is Greek for spiny.

Acacia echinula flowers from June into Spring.
