Banksia marginata is a rounded tall shrub or small tree up to 6m, but often dwarfed on heathlands.
The narrow leaves vary widely, from 2-6cm long, 3-10mm wide, toothed or entire. Younger leaves are deeply and evenly toothed. The underside of the leaves is a velvety white and the tip is usually cut off squarely.
The small yellow flower spikes of Banksia marginata are varied in length from 4-10cm long and 4-6cm wide. The styles are straight or curved slightly upwards, not hooked.
Banksia marginata flowers from February to July.
