Burchardia umbellata is an erect tufted herb 20-70cm high, found mainly in sandy heathland.

The slender stems have about 6 flowers in a small terminal cluster. The 6 petals are white with dark purple ovaries and anthers.

A few narrow straight leaves rise from the base of the plant to about 25cm.

Burchardia umbellata flowers September to November.
