Calytrix tetragona
Fringe Myrtle
Family: Myrtaceae
Calytrix tetragona is a bushy shrub growing 1.5 - 2m high in a large range of habitats from heath to shrubland, mainly on sandy soils.
At full bloom the terminal masses of star-shaped flowers almost hide the leaves. The 5 white to pink petals are joined at the base by 5 tapered red sepals which form a cup and remain after the petals drop.
The slender, finely-toothed leaves are 4-8mm long, triangular in section and point upwards along the stem.
Calytrix tetragona flowers from July to December.
