Dillwynia retorta ssp. A
Eggs and Bacon, Heathy Parrot Pea
Family: Fabaceae
Dillwynia retorta ssp. A is one of the most commonly found pea flowers on Sydney sandstone, growing in both heath and woodland areas. The shrub usually grows to 1m high.
The flowers of Dillwynia retorta are normally bright yellow with a red centre, but can be orange-yellow. The flowers mass in clusters on the upper parts of the stems, growing in pairs from each leaf axil.
The fine leaves, 4-12mm long, are twisted, hence the name Dillwynia retorta (Latin for turned or twisted).
Dillwynia retorta ssp. A flowers mainly from July to September.
