Elaeocarpus reticulatus is a small tree, 4 - 10 m. It grows in the understoreys of sheltered valleys on sandstone woodlands, most commonly in wetter gullies, but will also grow happily on stony ridges.

The bark is grey. Leaves are tough and elliptical, alternate,7-12 cm long, with prominent net veins and toothed margins.

The drooping white (occasionally pink) cup -shaped flowers of Elaeocarpus reticulatus are delicately fringed, enclosing yellow stamens.

The fruits, shiny dark blue berries, 8-10 mm, are present through Autumn and Winter.

Elaeocarpus reticulatus flowers in November and December.
