Hakea gibbosa

Hakea gibbosa is an upright shrub, about 1 - 2 m high. It grows in heath and scrub on sandy soils.

The sharp, needle-like leaves are 4-8 cm long, and just over 1mm wide. New stems and leaves are covered in fine long white hairs, which give the branch a frosty appearance.

Hakea gibbosa has cream flowers., which are about 5 - 6 cm long before they open.

The fruit is the main feature which distinguishes the fine-leaved Hakea gibbosa from others in the area. It is up to 30 mm across, flattened, with 2 distinct beaks. It is mainly smooth, with only a few warts.

Hakea gibbosa flowers from June - September.
