Hakea sericea is a prickly shrub, usually 2-3 m tall. It is widespread in heathland on sandstone and shale.
The stiff leaves of Hakea sericea are very sharp and fine, 2-6mm long, 1mm wide, with fine hairs when young.
The delicate pale flowers, usually white but ranging from pale yellow to a tinge of pink, cluster in the leaf-joints.
The dense woody seed pod is rough and knobbly, with two sharp horns.
Hakea sericea flowers from June - September.
