White Paper Daisy, Tall Everlasting

The paper daisy Helichrysum elatum is found in sheltered wetter situations in woodland, growing up to 1 m tall. The sturdy branches are covered with white woolly hairs.

The leaves of Helichrysum elatum are broad and lance-shaped, up to 10 cm long by 2-4cm wide, dull green above and hairy grey below.

The terminal flower heads of Helichrysum elatum are large, about 3 cm across. Central flower discs are yellow, surrounded by white, papery petal-like bracts.

Helichrysum elatum flowers from August to October.
