Hemigenia purpurea

Narrow-leaved Hemigenia

Family: Lamiaceae

Hemigenia purpurea is a common shrub in the Sydney region, growing in heathlands on sandstone. It is a slender, erect shrub, up to 1 m high.

The narrow, erect leaves are 8 - 15 mm long, grouped in 3s or 4s along the upper side of the branches. They often have purple tips.

The mauve flowers, about 1 cm across, grow singly in leaf axils on any part of the bush.

Hemigenia purpurea flowers from June to January.
