Kennedia rubicunda is a vigorous climber. It has stems several metres long and grows in a variety of habitats, prefering sunny spots. The stems and young stalks are covered with brown hairs.
The dark green oval leaves of Kennedia rubicunda are in groups of three leaflets.
The pea flowers are a dull red, with the petal turned back to expose a dark patch.
Kennedia rubicunda is named after Mr John Kennedy, a London nurseryman who was one of the first to cultivate Australian plants.
