Kunzea capitata is a slender shrub up to 1.5m high. It is very common in sunny areas heath and open forest on sandy soils.
The leaves are up to 9mm long and 3mm wide, with 3 distinct veins. They are alternate and almost flat, but curve slightly backwards at the tips. The leaves of young plants are covered by dense hairs.
The flowers of Kunzea capitata are mauvish-pink and are crowded at the ends of the branches.
Kunzea capitata flowers in September and October.
