Leucopogon ericoides is a slender and erect prickly shrub, usually about 0.5 - 1.5m high, sometimes low and almost prostrate. It grows in a variety of conditions, from sandstone scrub and woodland to old coastal dunes and heath.

The small spreading leaves are up to 8mm long, narrow and sharply pointed, with pungent points.

The white flowers are small, clustering in the leaf axils along the stem. The buds often have a pinkish tinge.

Leucopogon ericoides is similar to Leucopogon juniperinus, but the flowers are much shorter and more recurved, while the leaves are less densely crowded.

Leucopogon ericoides flowers from July to November.
