Lomatia myricoides

Lomatia myricoides is a graceful bushy shrub up to 4 m. It commonly grows , near creeks but not in the water in gullies. It is also found in sheltered forests.

The smooth green leaves of Lomatia myricoides are about 20cm long, and can be even-edged to deeply toothed.

The greenish-yellow flowers are similar to those of Lomatia silaifolia, but the spikes are shorter than the leaves.

Lomatia myricoides has a winged seed, which gives its name to the genus: Gk loma = fringe or border.

Lomatia myricoides flowers in December and January, sometimes into February.
