Micrantheum ericoides is a small inconspicuous shrub usually between 20 -80 cm high. It is found in sheltered spots on sandy soils in open forest or heath. It is easily distinguished by the fruit - an elliptical-ball shape, reddish when young, 6-7mm long. Flowers and fruit of Micrantheum ericoides may be on the plant at the same time.

The leaves are narrow, up to 8 mm long, in groups of 3 along the wiry stem.

The tiny flowers of Micrantheum ericoides are white or pinkish, with 3 anthers.

The name ericoides means heath-like.

Micrantheum ericoides flowers mainly from August to November.
