Olearia microphylla is a fairly common upright shrub in woodland or open forest, growing 1.5 - 2m high.
The densely crowded leaves are very small, 2-4mm long, with recurved margins and a thick covering of hair on the underside.
The abundant white flower heads of Olearia microphylla are solitary on the ends of short branchlets. Each flower head consists of 6-10 florets.
Olearia microphylla usually flowers in September.
