Phyllota phylicoides is a common pea flower in heath, shrubland and woodland on sandstone. It is an erect shrub up to 1m. The stems, especially in the upper parts, are often covered in soft hairs.

The dark slender leaves are 5 -20mm long and curled underneath.

The bright yellow flowers, sometimes with red markings, are clustered towards the end of the branches. Each flower is about 10mm long. Broad bracteoles protrude between the flowers.

Phyllota phylicoides flowers mainly from August to October.
