Ricinocarpos pinifolius
Wedding Bush
Family: Euphorbiaceae
Ricinocarpos pinifolius is an erect, much-branched shrub up to 2m high. It grows in colonies in woodlands or on poor sandy soils such as hind-dunes.
The pine-needle shaped leaves are fairly soft and have edges curved under and soft points.
The flowers of Ricinocarpos pinifolius are white, with 4-6 open petals 10-15mm long. Male and female flowers are different, with the male flower having longer petals. Often one female flower will be surrounded by several male flowers on the end of a branch. The female flower becomes the greenish coloured fruit, about 12mm wide, round and rough with short hard points.
Ricinocarpos pinifolius flowers from August to October.
