Family: Violaceae

Viola hederacea is a densely spreading herb, growing in sheltered moist locations such as edges of waterways and the bases of wet overhangs.

The flower is white with purple markings, the petals 8-10mm long, on a slender stem.

The kidney-shaped leaves of Viola hederacea are soft and toothed, 1-3 cm wide, on stems of 2-6 cm.

Viola hederacea flowers mainly from September to December, but a few flowers can be seen through most of the year.
