Snow Wreath
Family: Epacridaceae
Woollsia pungens is an erect, prickly shrub, 20cm - 2m, found in sandstone heaths and woodland. It exudes a sweet clover-like smell in winter, hence the name pungens (pungent).
The 6-12mm leaves are pointed and densely crowded along the stems.
The flowers are usually white, but can vary from pink to purplish. They cover the upper parts of the stems.
Woollsia pungens usually flowers in Spring, but the flowers can last for months.
